** Iga-Yaki (Mie) is Traditional Craft Products designated by the Japanese Government on 1982/11/1.
Originated in the late 7th century to the 8th century, as the earthware called sueki. The area became well-known with tea bowls for tea ceremony in the 17th century. Unexpected color and appearance changes by firing at the high temperature are its features. Approx. 150 potteries engage in pottery and porcelain production.
