** Imari-Yaki (Saga) is Traditional Craft Products designated by the Japanese Government on 1977/10/14.
Originated in the early 17th century. The first porcelain ware was produced here in Japan. Initiated by the Korean potter Lee Cham Pyung. Many porcelain products with sophisticated overglaze enamel decoration were exported to European countries. Approx. 159 potteries including Arita-Yaki engage in porcelain production. Imari-Yaki has been developed in vicinity of Arita-Yaki under slightly different history.
