** Agano-Yaki (Fukuoka) is Traditional Craft Products designated by the Japanese Government on 1983/4/27.
Originated in the early 17th century. In comparison with other production regions, the ware has thin pottery bodies with almost no painting works due to a nature of the clay. The typical ware is applied with greyish-green glaze. It was one of 'Enshu Nana Gama' (or Seven kilns) well-known national-wide for tea-ware. Approx. 28 potteries engage in pottery production.
