** Kutani-Yaki (Ishikawa) is Traditional Craft Products designated by the Japanese Government on 1975/5/10.
Originated in the 17th century. The Kaga clan had studied the Arita-Yaki porcelain in Kyushu region and set up a kiln using the local material. It is characterized by its use of heavily overlaid vivid pigments. Approx. 400 potteries engage in porcelain and pottery production.
